Ada Pearl Hutton Gordon Bell was born July 7, 1943, in Davidson County to the late Lera T. Hutton and Clarence Turner. Ada departed this life Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ada Pearl was educated in Cheatham and Davidson County School systems.
Ada, lovingly called “Pearl” made a commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ and united in Fellowship with First Pegram A.M.E. Church, later uniting with Meharry Blvd. Church of God. After her illness, she moved her membership back to First Pegram A.M.E. Church in Pegram, Tennessee and remained until her death. She served faithfully as a Deaconess at First Pegram and was very active in this position.
Pearl demonstrated Christian values and character in her places of employment. She was employed with the then Baptist Hospital and retired after serving 26 years. She later worked with the Cheatham County School System for 12 years.
Pearl united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Samuel W. Gordon, on August 20, 1960, and was married to him until his passing on April 25, 2014. They were married 53 years, 9 months and 4 days. To this union two children were born, Pierre Rocky and Leara Loway.
She later married Harold Bell on September 1, 2019, and remained married to him until his death on October 24, 2022. They were married 3 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Ada Pearl is survived by her son, Pierre Rocky (Michelle), daughter, Leara Loway (Don), stepdaughter, Cynthia Bell Hollingsworth, grandchildren: Towanda Harlan, Pilar N., Pierre L., and Perry L. Gordon, Brandon, Bryon, Donielle and Alanna Goree, Aaron and Dismal Bell; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren; sisters Marjorie Dobbins, Theresa Sparkman, Shronder (Morris) Dotson, Sherron (James) Tesar, Wanda (Willie) Baldwin; brothers Henry (Margaret) Hutton, Roger Alexander, Lathell (Margo) Alexander, Keef (Lisa) Turner, Ivan Don (Terri) Turner; sisters-in-law Mary Rose Ramey, Patsy (George) Spicer, Terry Gordon; brothers-in-law, Maryland Bell, Jr. (Connie), Clyde Gordon; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends – Doris Tann, Joy Kimmon, Pat Bailey, Glodine Bell, Edith Smith, Effie Haynes and Phobie Hollingsworth.
