Carolyn Elizabeth "Tiny" Sanders

Aug 2, 1944 — May 29, 2026

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 2, 1944 to the late Roscoe and Elizabeth Simmons, Carolyn Elizabeth Sanders - affectionately known as "Tiny"- will forever be remembered for her easygoing spirit, contagious smile and the warmth she brought to everyone she met. Her kind heart, gentle nature, and joyful presence left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Tiny attended Metro Public Schools, and at an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ. She was a faithful member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. In 1961, Tiny united in marriage with the late Clyde Sanders. Together, they built a loving family and were blessed with three sons and one daughter. The two remained united until Tiny received her wings on May 29, 2026.

For 19 years, Tiny faithfully served at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. There she would touch the hearts of countless coworkers and students. Following her retirement, she welcomed life's simple pleasures, finding great joy in spending time with her family, traveling, and cheering on her favorite basketball and football teams. She absolutely loved watching Days of Our Lives and could often be found enjoying late night episodes of Family Feud and completing word searches.

Tiny was preceded in death by her loving parents, Roscoe and Elizabeth Simmons; her husband, Clyde Sanders; her son, Darryl Sanders; her sister, Margaret Buford; and her brother, James Tucker.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children: daughter, Kathy (Jimmy) Williams, and sons Terry (Gwen) Sanders and Micah (Sheila) Sanders. She also leaves two devoted granddaughters, Camile "Mimi" Sanders and Kaless McCathern along with her cherished grandchildren Teyerah Coleman, Lakyshia Sanders, Shawntica Crump, Shaneena Davis, Darryl King and Mykeisha (James) Sanders-Driver. Tiny legacy continues through her 13 great-grandchildren and 2 grandpups, which brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Janice West and Freda Toney, as well as her cherished niece Sylvia "Bonnie" Marcano and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory, her wisdom and the love she shared so freely.
