Charles (Shorty) Anderson, Jr. was born on September 23, 1946 in Athens, Alabama to the late
Charles and Bertha Anderson and was welcomed into eternity on June2, 2023.
Charles was a praying man, he prayed day and night. He knew the Lord and he loved the Lord. He
accepted Christ at Mt. Paran Primitive Baptist Church and was baptized there. He served under the
leadership of Elder Robert Howse and Elder Freeman H. Geter, Ill. He was a faithful member and truly
enjoyed a spiritual worship service.
Charles and Maxine enjoyed fifty-two years of holy matrimony. Charles always told Maxine that they
would be together until death parted them.
Charles high school education was at Trinity High school in Athens, Alabama school system.

Charles was a truck driver for Oman Construction Company for many years until the company relocated.
After leaving Oman Construction, he became an entrepreneur, he truly a business sense and could sell
you anything!
Loving, caring, genuine, provider, son, husband, brother, father and many other words could perfectly
describe Charles, affectionally known as 'Shorty' by his many friends. He touched so many lives with
his incredible personality and spirit. He enjoyed listening to good music and fishing.
Shorty loved to dress from head to toe. He was a man who was debonair, confident, charming, and well
dressed. He loved life, enjoyed westerns in his leisure time. He was the jokester of the crowd. He could
make you laugh in the worst of situations, but above all Shorty loved gathering with family and friends,
having fun and enjoying life. Shorty met no strangers; he had a heart of gold. To know him was to love
him. Shorty wore many hats, but the greatest hat of all is his hat of Crown and Glory.
Charles will now grace the heavens with his father and mother, Charlie Sr., and Bertha Anderson;
brothers, William Henry Fletcher, David Lane and Johnny Anderson. Sister in love, Brenda Kirby Hooks.
He is survived by and leaves precious memories to beloved wife Maxine Anderson; his daughters(aka
Shorty's angels),Lukeya(David) West, Cher're Anderson, Clynsezetta Jackson-Coleman, Diane Reed,
Sonja Holloway: sons, Sherman and Jeffrey Anderson, Victor Woodard; loving and devoted brother,
Elder Mackie(Lynda) Anderson; 20 grandchildren; 46 great grandchild; 1 great-great grandchild; Mother- in law, Mother Hattie Batey; Sister in-law, Priscilla(Aveyon) Talley, Special sister-in law, Mable Fletcher. Brother-in laws, Minus(Sherrell) Batey, Joseph(Rosemary) Batey; devoted cousin, Anna Kirby; a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
