Christine Tharpe

Ms. Christine Ann Jones Tharpe was born October 1, 1942, in Tiptonville, Tennessee to the union of Amos Armstrong and Esther Lee Jones Armstrong. She was raised by Leslie “Jack” Kendall, step-father. Christine went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Christine was educated in the Henry County Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Paris, Tn.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was united with Wiley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Christine was previously married to James Clayton Tharpe. Christine had a huge heart and adopted her nephew, Kree A. Armstrong. She was the owner and operator of a café for many years. She later was employed by Holly Carburetor Plant and later by Emerson Electric Company and was blessed to retire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother, Ester Lee Jones, father, Amos Armstrong, stepfather, Jack Kendall, siblings, Joe Eallar Hooks, Mary L. Smith, Carrie M. Bass, Calup John Amos and George Armstrong, stepbrother & sisters, Frank Kendall, Ethel M. Hudson and Dorothy Hicks.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her child, Kree Armstrong, nieces & nephews, Joe Esther Mack, Vanessa Calvin, Antionette, Lisa Coates, Darrell Kendall, James Armstrong, Jonathan Armstrong, Joseph and Craig Armstrong, Pet Vandyke and Doris Etheridge a host of other family and friends and loving church member Ann Curtis.
