Dr. Clarence Anderson Burgess, born on June 20, 1964, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to Wayne and Carlene Burgess, peacefully departed this life on November 20, 2025 at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family.
From an early age, Clarence embraced his faith, accepting Christ into his life, and was an active member of the South Nashville Seventh Day Adventist Church. His educational journey began in Detroit, Michigan, and he later moved to Nashville, where he graduated from McGavock High School in 1984. An exceptionally bright student, Clarence went on to attend Vanderbilt University, earning a degree in Psychology and later obtaining his doctorate in 2000.
At South Nashville S.D.A. Church, Clarence met the love of his life, Charlie Mae Davis, and they joyfully united in marriage on May 10, 2004.
While he found fulfillment in his career, Clarence cherished his time spent with family above all. He had a passion for cooking, teaching children, and helping those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Carlene Burgess.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife Charlie Mae Burgess, children, Charles (Sherhonda) Davis, Bobby (Tiffany) Davis, Dewaine (Sheketa) Davis, Justin (Leah) Madison, Ashley (Darius) Davis, grandchildren, Charles “CJ” Davis, Jr., Davion Davis, LaCharcya “CiCi” Davis, Walter “Pooh” Watts, Chareyana Davis, Bobby “Lil Bobby” Davis, Jr., Dynasty “DyDy” Davis, Dyna’c “Cita” Davis, Kayden Davis, Quentesa Howse, Dewaine “Boonthy-Man” Davis, Akia Davis, Dewaine “Waine Waine” Davis, Zakiah Davis, Destinee Davis, Desiree Davis, great grandchildren, A’laylah Smith, Amiriah Smith, Carmen Davis, Cyarah Davis, Dewaine Davis, Jakailyn Davis, foster parents, Henry & Patti Webb, brothers, Patrick Burgess, Wayne Burgess, Chuck “Family” Webb, and Craig “Family” Webb, great nephews, Carl Davis, Frederick Davis, close friends, Lottie, Renee, Kathy, Shelia, Pastor and Sister Forte, Eli, Geraldine and Joe as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Dr. Clarence Anderson Burgess will be remembered for his compassionate spirit, intellectual achievements, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
