Daphne Denise Cox Combs was born November 6, 1963, in Tachikawa, Japan to the union of Hugh and Ruth Teague Cox. Daphne answered her call and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026, at West Tennessee Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee.
Daphne accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was a faithful member of Progressive Baptist Church. She made history by attending Henry County Public Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Henry County High School. She continued her education by attending UT Martin for 2 years where she was a proud little sister to the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity (Sigma Doves),
Daphne had a smile that would light up a room and a sparky personality to go with it.
Daphne married the love of her life George Combs, September 21, 1990. They have shared a love that has spanned over 35 years.
Daphne was employed by Walmart Company for over 44 years. She also worked for Hardees for a period. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing candy crush, and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Daphne will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Cox and Ruth Yvonne Teague Cox, brother, Duane Cox, and nephew, Kyle Jones, niece Lin-Cee Byars.
She leaves to celebrate her memories her loving and devoted husband, George Combs, Jr., loving children, Khadijah Combs (Alec Jones)- daughter, Chad (Amanda) Cox, sister, Jocelyn Clarisse Cox-Jones, brother, Chad Andre’ (Amanda) Cox Nieces and nephews - Kelani Jones, Hayley (Toby) Runyon, Tristen Cox, Emily Wolfer, and Nova Watts, Jade, Byars, Kourtnei Byars, Kiawanna Harrington, Rodney Teague, Tammi Lloyd, Stephen Teague, great nephew, Flamar Baiey, grandchildren, Emilee Combs, and Aiden Jones, in laws include Dianne Travis Teague, Cathy Crutchfield, David Combs and Harold (Mercedes) Travis. She was a trusted mother figure to Jamario (Makeisha) White, Brooke Powell and many others in her years. Lifelong friends include but not limited to, Her Ride or Dies, Margie (Vincent) Nolen, Yvette (Rodney) Littleton, Michelle Lewis, Nancy (Jerry) Bane as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
