DaShaun Yaphet Staten was born on June 8th, 1978 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Teresa Staten and Hiram Drake. He departed this earthly life on December 18, 2021 at Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

DaShaun professed his love for Christ and united with Rock United Ministries. He was educated in Metro Public Schools, attending Highland Heights Junior High and Maplewood High School.
DeShaun enjoyed playing basketball, socializing with friends, and gathering for family events. He loved God, his children, and family. He never had an enemies, he was always smiling there wasn’t anyone that he met that he didn’t like. He was caring and he would give you the shirt off his back, he was willing to help anyone in need and he always had a kind word to say.
DeShaun was united with Camile “Mimi” Sanders on April 18, 2007. He was employed with UPS in Nashville, Tennessee.

He leaves to cherish his memories mother Teresa Staten Houston (Kena), father Hiram Drake, children ZyQuan Ward, Nacoriah Smith, Dizyr Staten, DeShaun Staten Jr., grandchild Knox Ward, brothers Quinton Staten, Dalonte Smith, sisters Kiah Bradley, Detra Gooch, Kahless McCurthern, Latasha Hutch, Tykia Shannon, Brittney Brown, devoted aunts and uncles Linda and Randell Greene, Beverly McHaley, Jimmie Charles, Amanda Drake Benson, devoted cousins Tonia and Kerry Bell, Antonious and Naketta Pleasant, Tahnia Staten, Shannon Pleasant, devoted friends Kevin Perry, Antonio French, Reginald McEwing, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation Thursday, December 30, 2021, 12-1pm with funeral to follow at funeral Home.
