For the saints there is no death, as Christ removed it’s sting on Calvary. But an angel walked over the earth with silent tread as the Giver calling back our loved one unto himself.
Dawn Michelle Smiley was born on September 27, 1975, in Newark, NJ. She was the only child of Victor A. Smiley (NJ), and the late Cheryl A. Smiley. Dawn became a member of Morning Star Community Christian Center under Pastor Thurman E. Evans, M.D., Ph.D. When she relocated to Nashville, TN she joined The Greater Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church under Reverend Walter W. Reid Jr.
Dawn received her education in the Newark NJ., school system. She received her high school diploma in 1993 from Eastern Christian High School and attended Hudson County Community College.
Later in life she received her greatest achievements having one son and three daughters while still residing in New Jersey. After raising her three eldest children, seeking a change, she along with her fourth child relocated to Nashville, TN. This change to Tennessee wasn’t unfamiliar to Dawn being that she had many precious memories of visiting family there with her mother. This move put her in close proximity to her maternal grandmother and her dear aunt, her mother’s sister.
Dawn was vivacious, social and a hard worker. When she moved to Nashville, TN., and was hired by the Kroger Food Store Chain, she made many loyal friends She was hired in July 2019 and was still employed at the time of her death.
Preceding Dawn in death was her devoted Mother Cheryl A. Smiley, Paternal Grandmother Mary Smiley, and Uncle Duane Fletcher.
Dawn leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved children, Lamont, Ashley, and Brianna Smiley and her baby girl Monet Thompson; The twinkle in her eyes two grandchildren, Aulani Michelle Deloach-Smiley and Sy’reese Elijah Turner. Her Father Victor A. Smiley, her loving maternal grandmother Mrs. Alma (Rev. Freeman Marco Cooper; Uncles, SMC (Retired) Ortega Fletcher, Quintos and Gary Fletcher, Richard Scott, and Barry Smiley; Aunts, Kathy White and devoted Aunt LaGuiya Jordan; Cousin, Angela Brannon; Aunts in Love, Celia Bowers, Vickie Fletcher, Sheron Trotter, and Ava McMahon; A loving host of family and friends. A special friend to Dawn, Mr. Vance Maze.
To say that Dawn will be missed would be a gross understatement, but our physical separation is heaven’s gain. We don’t say goodbye or farewell but merely “good night”, until the rays of God’s glory awaken us to the never dimming light of eternity.
