Edwin Lanonze Davis was born June 30, 1980, in Nashville Tennessee to the union of Joel Edwin Rhodes and Gracie Marie Davis. Edwin passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Edwin was educated in the Metro Nashville Davidson County Public Schools. He accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was united with Greater Covenant Outreach Church.

Edwin was employed by several different entities including Coca-Cola, Hall’s Steakhouse as a Master Chef, Fisk University as a Master Chef and Prep Cook.

Edwin enjoyed watching Basketball, traveling, going to comedy shows, grilling, cooking shopping, family gatherings. His favorite food was Churches Chicken, Mexican food and Crab boils. Edwin was a huge Dallas Cowboy Football fan; he loved watching football and would watch all day Saturday and Sunday. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were the center of his world.

Edwin was preceded in death by his father, Joel E. Rhodes, great-grandmother, Gracie M. Lewis, grandfather, Henry Davis, Sr., grandmother, Earnestine Patterson, grandfather, John Patterson, uncle, Henry Davis, Jr., aunts, Shirley Knox, Doraretha Davis and Yvonne Tucker.

Those left to celebrate his life are his loving and devoted mother, Gracie (Isaac) Berry , brothers, Larry Sims (Seina Sims), Kendrick Thompson, Montavis Johnson, Demontez Johnson, sister, Kawanace Williams (Lamont Mathis Williams) Alicia Berry, Tammy Jackson (James Jackson) Katrina Patterson, Diamond Johnson, Toniya Johnson, grandmother, Laula Joann Rhodes, children, Cantaniya Davis, Makakyia Mays, E’nya Davis, Edwin Davis, E’Laycia Cain, Cedrick Owen, Courtney Gladney, Courmari Gladney, Corbin Steele, granddaughter, Amora Campbell, grandson, Kenai Campbell, a host of nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, special cousin, Carl Knox, a special companion he was blessed with who stayed by his side in sickness and health, Destiny Mays.

A special thanks to his church family, Greater Covenant Outreach Church, Pastor Michael J. Harvey, First Lady Constance Harvey and everyone who called text and more. A special thanks to Courtine and staff at D.C.I. Medical Center.
