Ellery Q. Mannery was born to Michael and Gloria Mannery in Rockford, Illinois on February 25, 1957. He entered into rest on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Ellery was baptized into Christ on March 14, 1979 at Garnett Road Church of Christ, which was also the day he married his high school sweetheart Lydia D. Fulson (Mannery)
Ellery attended Rockford Public Schools and graduated from Rockford Auburn High School, class of 1976. He attended Rock Valley College for 2 years. Ellery played baseball as a child through the Rockford Boy’s Club and he went onto play High School Basketball and Football.
Ellery drove the bus for Metro Schools, where he had perfect attendance because he loved his job so well. He mentored his students and had great relationships with them. They absolutely loved their “Mr. E”, also the teachers, parents, principals, and co-workers too.
Ellery went onto drive for M.T.A./ WE GO some 12 years ago and this became his passion and reason for waking up at 3am most days. He said he’d never retired; he loved his job that much. He received so may accommodations from H.R. of passengers calling in to praise him on how courteous, professional, polite, respectful, and his “Manneryisms” (Mannerism). Everyone he came in contact with could never forget him, my brother would say Ellery was like an Alien he had his own language. Ellery truly loved the Lord; He loved people and people loved him in return.
Ellery was preceded in death by his son, Quincy E. Mannery, mother, Gloria Mannery, brother Mrvin Mannery, and mother-in-law, Clara Fulson.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Lydia Mannery, children, Rachel (Terry) Fulson, Quincy E. Mannery, Leah Mannery, Ellori (Deon) Trotter, Scassi Mannery, 14 grandchildren, and a host of cousins, other family, and friends.
