Elloweese Holt Grigsby-Moton was born January 22, 1952, in Gallatin, Tennessee to the union of James Holt, Sr., and Nannie Vaughn Holt. This fruitful life came to an end on Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Elloweese accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was an active member of Cowan Street Baptist Church. She was educated in the Metro Nashville Public School System where she attended and graduated from North High School. While at North she was involved with many groups and clubs but her most notable was being a Halftimer performing with the band.
Elloweese married the love of her life Tommy Lee Moton on June 28, 1997, this love has lasted for almost 28 years.
Elloweese was employed by Service Merchandise for over 25 years she was later employed by Cigna Healthcare where she retired. In her spare time, she enjoyed catering, Pastoral Care Coordinator of Events and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Nannie Holt, mother-in-law, Earnestine Olds, son, Melvin Timothy Grigsby, stepdaughter, Aretha Kemp, sisters, Betty A. Smith-London, Yvonne Allen and Rita Montgomery Trammell, brother, Min. James Holt, Jr., brother-in-law, John Danny Davis, son-in-law, Gary Fitzgerald and aunt, Lucille Flenoy.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories her husband, Tommy Lee Moton, Sr., son, Joseph (Aletha) Grigsby, stepson, Tommy Moton, Jr., daughters, Shawnicka Fitzgerald, Danyelle Grigsby-Carter, siblings, Gwen (John) Sevier, Evelyn Davis, Yolanda Montgomery, Margaret Henderson, of Augusta, Shirley (Arthur) Coleman of Swainsboro, Ga., Alvin David (Rosemary) Montgomery, Melvin (Ruthie) Holt, Min. Randy (Sandra) Holt, James L. (Faye) Holt, Jr., of Albany, Ga., Tommie (Marilyn) Moody of Midville, aunt, Johnnie Mae Young, grandchildren, Jada Grigsby, Marlecia Grigsby, Kalia Grigsby, Jordan Grigsby, Krista Trice, Megan Mallard, Kalah Mallard and Valeria Moton, Markell Grigsby, Isaiah (Marchelle) Grigsby, Malcom (Courtney) Grigsby, Elijah Carter, Deontres Carter, Jaylan Carter and De’Onte Lewis a host of nieces and nephews, 18 great-grandchildren, devoted best friends, Lela Boggs, Tamra (Marvin) Harris, Debra Harris, Joyce Mason and Deborah Blake.
