Helen M. Gilchrist

Mrs. Helen Marie Miller Gilchrist was born January 15, 1948, to George and Mary Miller in Bolivar, Tennessee. She was the fourteenth child of sixteen siblings. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. Thomas Midtown Nashville, Tennessee.

Helen accepted Christ at an early age and after relocating to Nashville she joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Helen was united in Holy Matrimony to Clarence Gilchrist on October 23, 1971, and to this union two children were born. Helen was employed as a professional seamstress for over forty years. She continued her lifelong craft well beyond retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Miller, son, Clarence W. Gilchrist, Jr., daughter, Sheryl Hines, brothers, George Black, Darnell Black, Austin Black, Leonard Black, Ernest Black, Sr., Eugene Black, Robert Lee Black, Charles “Hunt” Miller, Larry “Jupie” Miller and Floyd Miller, sisters, Bernice Jones, Clara Black Parham and Mary L. Bills.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband of over fifty-four years, Clarence W. Gilchrist, Sr., son, Jeffrey M. Gilchrist, Sr., Courtland, Al., daughter, Regina (Ricky) Jackson, Rossville, Tn., ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Dr., Bill (Mary) Miller, Nashville, Tn., and Speddie (Mary) Miller, Jackson, Tn., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
