James Edward Gleaves

Mr. James Edward Gleaves was born July 29, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee to the parents, Edward Mitchem Gleaves and Rozell Elizabeth Wilson Gl3eaves. He departed this productive life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Tristar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

James was educated in the Nashville, Davidson County Public Schools. He was employed as a Technician for Textron Industries for many years. He was skilled at his craft of repairing Aircraft.

James served his country in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge after completing several tours of duty including Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Edward Gleaves, mother, Rozell (Osie) Wilison, brother, William Gleaves, sister, Ora Perkins, sons, Derrick Lyons, Rodney Nelson, daughter, Anikra Robinson and aunt, Lorell Tripplett.

James leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted companion, Edith Nelson, loving children, Shermeas Gleaves, Taliah (Antonio) Thompson, Ira Gleaves, Antonio Johnson (Shonda), Larry (Tia) Nelson, 32 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, sister, Janita Gleaves, niece, Jalisha Gleaves, nephews, Kenneth, Michael Charles, and Derrick Gleaves and many other relatives and friends.
