James Edward Johnson "Drag/Boose"

Mr. James Edward Johnson was born May 10, 1947, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to his parents, Mary Margaret Johnson and Edward Brown. He departed this earthly life on Friday, August 11, 2023, at his residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

James affectionately called “Drag/ Boose” was educated in Metro Nashville Public Schools. He accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized in the creek in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

James was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Denise Gabriel on December 29, 1986, they have enjoyed 36 years of marriage.

James was employed with The Tennessee Gannett Newspaper in Nashville, Tennessee, for several years until his retirement in 2009. Boose was an OG of Kings of Comedy, always making people laugh. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. For relaxation he enjoyed grabbing his tackle box and fishing rod to go fishing.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Margaret Johnson, father, Edward Brown, sisters, Mary Ellen Johnson Dangerfield, Shirley Denise Johnson Liptrot, brothers, Charles Lee Johnson and Patrick Johnson.
