Janiyah M. Batey

Janiyah Mae'oshe Batey, age 19, sadly left this world on July 2, 2025. Janiyah was born on June 14, 2006, in Nashville, TN, the beloved daughter of Erica "Shay"Batey (Carlos Dillard) and Duantez Jenkins.

Janiyah attended Metro Nashville Public Schools and shared an unconditional love for her parents and grandparents. She enjoyed late-night rides exploring Nashville, trying new foods, listening to and creating music. Janiyah had a remarkable eye for fashion and dreamed of designing her own clothing line with her girlfriend, Ja'Mya Hayes. She wanted to become an entrepreneur and loved creating, hoping one day to work for herself and leave a legacy behind. She especially enjoyed being a big sister and cherished the bond she had with her siblings.

Janiyah departed this earth on July 2, 2025, to join the angels. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Vera Byers (James Byers), and her grandmother, Mary Ann Pitts.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted mother; Erica Batey (Carlos Dillard); her father, Duantez Jenkins; her beloved grandparents, Janice Byers (Ralph Prather), Lisa Duncan, and Cary Ewing; her devoted sisters, Carlasia Dilard, Carionna Batey, and Dream Ewing; her brothers, Jemerious Brown, Dmartez Jenkins, and Duantez Jenkins Jr.; her aunts, Narkeetha Dillard (Trovella Ladd), Charmette Pitts, Shacari Duncan, Kareale Duncan, and Shekella Duncan, Tierra Patterson; her uncles, Carl Byers, Montrez Duncan, and Steven Duncan; and her beloved girlfriend and life partner, Ja'Mya Hayes. And special friend Taurwaun Ladd

Janiyah was a daughter, granddaughter, niece sister, friend, and partner who left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Her presence meant everything to us, and she will be dearly missed.
