Jeanette Jacox Currie was born in Brownsville Tennessee to the late Mr. Martell and Mrs. Lady Frank Jacox. She attended both Haywood and Bailey Elementary schools. She graduated from Haywood High School. As a life learner, she continued her education attending Lane College Jackson TN, the Medical Career College and Meharry Medical School in Nashville TN for her Medical Doctor’s Assistant.
While in high school, she met her beloved husband, Larry Currie. After high school in 1981, they got married and continued in holy matrimony for well over 40 years. To their union, they had two wonderful children, Shemekia and LeWarren.
Jeanette invested in the life of everyone she encountered. As a minister, she was an example of God’s grace, love, and generosity. She was a giver to those she knew and she did not know. She provided shelter for the homeless, love offerings to those in ministry, and helping those in need around her.
She loved her family unconditionally touching their lives with her love. She home schooled her children and grandchildren. She was totally engaged in their education. Her ministry spread abroad from home to community. She sponsored and provided food for hungry and homeless, giving clothes to those in need, visiting those in prison and helping those needing to get parole. When covid hit, her ministry continued with Zoom revivals, faithful prayer services, and bible studies. Her love and ministry to help others had no limit.
Jeanette served her family and friends as a faithful servant leader and witness to the gospel of Lord Jesus Christ. God gifted her with the talent for Christian leadership, home management, and fund development. Her generosity came from the heart. Eventually, working from home as a tax consultant, she helped many in her community to prepare their taxes.
Those who preceded her to glory are her parents - Mr. Martell and Mrs. Lady Frank Jacox; and her siblings - Deloise Owens, Georgia Covington, Marchell Owens (Benjamin).
She leaves to remember her precious memory, her loving husband Larry Currie, her beloved children Shemekia Jordan (Justin) and LeWarren Currie (Lakeyontay) Nashville TN; her siblings - Denease Reaves-Milwaukee WI, Larry Jacocks-Brownsville TN, Lorenzo “Joe” Jacocks (Jacquelin)-Saginaw MI, Janice Jones (Kenneth)-Jackson TN, Yvonne Jones and Jackie Jacox (Malinda)-Nashville TN; her in-laws, Otis Covington-Dallas TX, Ricky Currie (Elaine)-Atoka TN, Jimmy Currie (Vickie)-Clarksville TN, Marie Bester-Memphis TN, Ida Mae Harris-Fairburn GA, Vivian Bowers (John)-Nashville TN, Paulette Change (Lamont)-Bluffton SC, Silvia Currie-Chicago IL; her grandchildren-Kira Currie (Brandon), Azariah Clopton, Deanna Clopton, Jeremiah Clopton, Korea Currie, Heaven Burch, Miasha Mills, Adrian Ransom Jr., Mareon Ransom, Kamar Ransom; spiritual sisters: Cozette Mann, Claudine Williams, Betty “Queen” Sanders, Mother Gracie Vaughn, Betsy Shaw, Gwendolyn Brown-Felder aka Pastor G, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family friends.
