Joan Marie Green-Cannon

Joan Marie Cannon was born on September 11, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Leroy and Thelma (Hall) Green. She entered peacefully into rest on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

Joan professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Roger Heights Baptist Church. She received her formal education in the Nashville Davidson County Public School Systems, graduating from Haynes High School, Class of 1959; and Tennessee State University in 1966 with a BS Degree in Social Work.

Joan was united in Holy Matrimony to Milton Cannon in 1966, they enjoyed a number of years of marriage until his passing, one child was born to this union.

Joan worked for over 37 years as a Social Worker for Metro Social Services Department. She enjoyed Catering, being a Poll Worker, volunteering for Metro School’s Project PENCIL, participating in church choir, Emily Nance Circle, and being apart of Roger Heights Board.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Milton Cannon, parents, Leroy and Thelma (Hall) Green, brothers, Leroy Green Jr., Harold Alvin Green, sisters, Bertha Cothron, Helen Hall, and stepson, Milton Eddie Cannon.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter, Katrina (Chris) Perkins, stepdaughter, Charis Cannon, grandchildren, Ashley Cannon (Brian) Munro, Christopher Perkins, Kendra Perkins, great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Raegan Munro, siblings, Joseph E. Green Sr., Carol L. Marks, sisters-in-law, Alice Cannon, Mary Ann Green, Shirley Green, Eloise Witherspoon, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, church members from Roger Heights Baptist Church, coworkers from Metro Social Services, other relatives, and friends.
