Joe David Maney

April 1, 1935 — April 5, 2024

Mr.  Joe D. Maney Sr. was born to the late Elizabeth Rucker and James Maney on April 1, 1935 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on April 5, 2024 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville, Tennessee.

 Joe was a graduate of Holloway High School in 1953 and went to work as a truck driver with Cumberland Machine Company for many years before retirement. He loved his job driving.

Joe accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He fellowshipped with Harvesters Warehouse Pentecostal Church in Franklin, Kentucky and became ordained as deacon serving faithfully until his health began to decline.  He was a devoted servant of God. Joe enjoyed traveling, gardening, and watching his favorite television shows. Most of all He loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He often accompanied his daughter, Cheryl, sightseeing, enjoying the various landscapes and taking in scenery around the city.

Joe was well known, loved and respected by his neighbors, always lending a hand where needed. He was known as a “Fixer” that whatever needed repairing it would soon be working again. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sons Joe D. Maney Jr, (Jimmy) Claude D. Maney, Sr; daughter Sylvia A. Maney, granddaughter Taneika A. Sanders.

Those left to cherish precious memories are devoted daughter, Cheryl M. Maney, devoted son Pastor, Jerry L. Maney, grandchildren, Terrence (Rachel) Alexander Jr, MarTorry T, Alexander (Jann’e), LaTanya M, Maney, DVM, grandson; James D. Maney, Jeremiah L. Maney, Faith M. Maney, daughter-in-law MaryAnn Maney, twenty-two great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, devoted nephew Bill Muse, cherished friend Stella M. Bradford, devoted friends Dorothy Ann Martin, Mary Bell, LeRoy Middleton.   A host of nieces, nephews’ cousins, other loving family and dear friends, and all those loved by him.
