Josephine Banks

Josephine Hayes Banks was born April 11, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of Willie B. Hayes and Juanita Adams Hayes. This sweet and productive life came to an end on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Heath Center at Richland Place in Nashville, Tennessee.

Josephine accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was united with Webster Memorial Baptist Church. She was educated in the Nashville Davidson County Public Schools.

Josephine was married to the love of her life Joseph Banks.

She was employed by Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools as well as Metro Housing. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and enjoying time with her family.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Juanita Hayes, husband Joseph Banks, children, Lonnie, David, Reginald, Gray and Kathy, siblings, Edna, Willie Mae, James, Willie B. Jr., Archie, Frank, Claude, Robert, Shirley.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rita Hayes, Ramona Brooks, Martha Banks, grandchildren, Shanika, Eboni, Tiffany, Farid, Alonzo, Sharkesha, Lonnie, Keitoria, Lerica, Ron, Reginald, Shameka, Terrell, Tarus, Bonnie, David, Troil, 40 great-grandchildren, sisters, Annie Lavender and Martha Hayes, along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
