Josephine Hunter Chambers was born on April 27, 1954 in Somerville, Tennessee to the union of Fon Hunter Sr. Fannie Nettles-Hunter. She entered into rest on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at her residence in Lavergne, Tennessee.
Josephine accepted Christ at an early age at Russell Grove Baptist Church. She was educated in the Hardeman County School District, graduating from Bolivar Central High School, class of 1972. She continued her education by attending Draughons Junior College.
Josephine was united in Holy Matrimony to William Howard Chambers, III., on November 5, 1997. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage.
Josephine was employed with Colonial Bakery/ Sara Lee, after 25 years of service, she retired in 2012. She enjoyed shopping, living life, visiting the local senior citizen center, and spending time with family and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her brothers, Aubrey (Patricia) Hunter, Fon (Freda)Hunter Jr., James Hunter, sisters Margaret Wade, and Ada Mooman.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted husband William Howard Chambers III; devoted daughter, Erica Brown; devoted step daughter, Tygima Steele; loving grandson, Jayce Jordan; siblings, Percy (Barbara) Hunter of Memphis, TN., Willie (Karen) Hunter of Jackson, TN., Carolyn Morrow; Davis Hunter; Bernice White; Frank (Shelia) Hunter, Francis (Gary) Gore, Charlie (Tamiko) Hunter, Carl Hunter all of Nashville, TN., Dixie (Willie) Spencer of Bolivar, TN., Dorothy (Duane) Crowe of Winchester, VA.; supportive in-laws, Shirley Griffin, Victoria (Ricky) Caldwell; ex in-laws, James (Jacqueline) Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
