Ms. Joyce Annette Smith was born September 20, 1961, in Columbia, Tennessee to the union of Luzell Smith, Sr. and Mary Watkins Smith. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, Joyce was called to enter her eternal home from St. Thomas Midtown Nashville, Tennessee to her heavenly home.
Joyce accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was united with Mt. Lebanon M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor James J. Green. She was educated in the Metro Nashville Public School System and was a graduate of McGavock High School.
Joyce was employed by several entities until the death of her mother Mary Smith. Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend with a heart of gold. She was a character who was life of any party or gathering. She LOVED her family and would spend most of her time caring and helping family and friends with open arms with any request. On the day of her passing she was helping someone. Her last employment was working at her daughter’s Daycare at the church. The children loved her and called her Granny Joyce.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Luzell, Sr. and Mary Smith, grandparents, Abraham Smith and Rebecca Mayes Smith. George and Louise Watkins, sons, Charles Smith and Walter Johnson, Jr. sisters, Debra Smith and Teresa Guthriue and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
To celebrate her homegoing and cherish her loving memories, she leaves behind her finance’ of 15 years Jon Caruthers, daughter, Natasha Smith, step-daughter, Latasha (Lorenzo) Brown, daughter-in-law, Cierra Smith, grandchildren, Miosha Smith, LaJohnathan, Javon, Samuel, Elijah, Teviyonna, Waltaveus, Waltarion, Serenity, Delontaye, Legend, Wyatt, Jocquise, Texonna, Edgar, grand dog, (Charlo), sisters, Addie, Audrey (Eric) Mapson, brother, Luzell (Gladys) Smith, aunt, Pearleen Watkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will truly be missed by all wo were blessed to know her.
