Juliet T. Lauderdale

Juliet Lauderdale, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. She was born on January 15, 1963, in Nashville, Tennessee, to her mother, Ms. Catherine Grigsby, and her paternal father, Mr. Douglas Hill. She was later lovingly adopted by Mr. James Jefferson Sr; who preceded her in death.

At the age of 13, Juliet was baptized at Ramsey Street Church of Christ. Her faith remained an important part of her life, and she later worshipped and faithfully served at the Schrader Lane church of Christ, where she actively participated in the Lace ministry and United School Workers.

Juliet received her early education in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from Hume-Fogg (Tech) School in 1981. She continued her education at Southwestern Christian college, in Terrell, Texas graduating in 1986 with an Associate degree in Accounting. While attending Southwestern she also sang in the chorus. Her dedication to education and personal growth continued as she later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lipscomb University in 2019. Beyond her academic Achievements, Juliet had a love for writing which led to her becoming a published book author of poetry.

Throughout her professional career, Juliet dedicated herself to serving others. She spent 10 years with Vanderbilt childcare and 19 1/2 years with the Tennessee Department of Health, where she served as a Managed Care Specialist 1. Her dedication and service were recognized through various honors, including the 2017 W.E.B. Dubois Honor Society Award and Recognition from the Department of Health.

Juliet was preceded in death by her adoptive father, James Jefferson Sr;

Grandparents, Bessie and George Dixon; Aunts and Uncles, Mary Sweafford, Annie Berry, Sandra Dixon, Johnny Dixon, Jean Dixon, Charlie Dixon, and Clyde Dixon. Cousins, Martha Mack and Dorethea Prather.

She leaves to Cherish her loving son, James Lauderdale Jr, mother, Catherine Grigsby, siblings, Debbie Jefferson, James Jefferson Jr, Rodney Jefferson, Kimberly Cheek, and paternal siblings, Aunts, Lillie Thompson, Ivory Dixon, and Sarah Dixon. Uncle, David Dixon, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, classmates of Southwestern Christian College, and her church family of Schrader Lane Church of Christ.

Above all, Juliet treasured her son, James Lauderdale Jr, her mother Catherine Grigsby, her siblings, and many loved ones. She will be remembered for her loving heart, faith, determination, warm spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
