Lauryn Sydney Taylor

October 30, 2003 — November 22, 2025

Lauryn ‘Sydney’ Taylor, Knoxville, TN, age 22, left us unexpectedly on November 22, 2025. Sydney, the youngest of three, brought incredible warmth, sharp wit, and unique joy to everyone she met.

Sydney was born in Nashville but moved to Knoxville to pursue her academic career. She was a highly intelligent and driven student enrolled in her senior year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she was majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She was known for her brilliant mind, quiet persona, incredible ability to make you laugh.

Outside of the classroom, Sydney was a fiercely loving and creative individual. She found immense pleasure in the worlds of fantasy and strategic play, often spending time with friends engaged in her passion for Dungeons and Dragons and competitive video games with deep plots. Sydney’s compassionate and genuine nature ensured that she made lasting friendships wherever she went.

She is survived by her heartbroken parents, Adam ‘Nelson’ and Shatika Taylor of KY; her loving brother, Cameron; and devoted sister, Kristyn; her maternal grandmother, Othelia Taylor; aunt, Vivian Taylor; uncles Charles and Carlos Ewin, as well as a large extended family of great aunts, great uncles, and cousins who cherished her deeply.

The family wishes to express their profound gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.

Service Arrangements: Public viewing will be held on Friday, December 5th, at 11:00 A.M. at Terrell Broady Funeral Home, Inc. 3855 Clarksville Pike, Nashville, TN 37218. A private graveside service will follow at Historic Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville, TN with Elder Angela Scales officiating the committal service.
