Linda Ruth "Loody" Watkins-Goins

Linda Ruth  (Loody) Watkins – Goins was born to the late Deacon Raymond Watkins and Minister Alexine Watkins on December 22, 1957. She was educated in Metro Public Schools where she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1976.

Linda was a devout Christian and served on the mothers’ board at New Destiny Christian Fellowship under Elder Vernal Sweeting. Linda was employed in environmental services at Meharry Medical College for many years  until her retirement in April 2022.

Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and servant of God. She transitioned from this life in the early morning of July 25, 2022. Her big smile, unique laugh, and giving heart will be deeply missed.

Linda is proceeded in death by her parents Deacon Raymond Watkins and Alexine Watkins, her baby sister Sharon Watkins Bean, and baby brother Shawney Watkins.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughter Vashon (Gary) Watkins – Hicks, granddaughter VaJohn Watkins Perkins, grandson Jashon Watkins Perkins, great-grandchildren London and Loyal Chambers, loving sister Gwendolyn Summers, nephews Raymond (Chevette) Watkins, Raymond Alexander, Koreyon Watkins, Dwjuan Bradford, Aidyn Watkins Brown, Jordan Bradford, Alexander Bean, nieces Ciara Rainey, Alexis Bean, Taylin Watkins, Amauri Blackmun, Aniya Watkins, devoted niece Shaneika Rene Watkins, uncles Andrew Calloway and Shawney Wynn, goddaughter Corey Mason, Life long friends  Telma Smith, Karen Kennedy, Renee Ezell, , Rhonda Bryant,  very special friend Mr. Leroy Powell, and a host of loving friends and family.
