Ms. Lucile Alfreda Townsend Crawford was born February 17, 1924 in Hazel Green, Alabama to the union of Jerry Townsend and Jemmie Woodley Townsend. She departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Vantage Pointe Village Memory Care in Ashland City, Tn.
Lucile attended Pearl High School and continued her education graduating from A and I State University Majoring in Home Economics.
She married the love of her Oscar Crawford, Jr in 1946, They enjoyed many years of love and laughter. Lucile accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was a life time member of MT. Zion Baptist Church for over 70 years. She has served in many capacities during her membership. She served as Sunday School Teacher for the 5 and 6 year old’s, a member of the Usher Board, Vacation Bible School Teacher, a member of the Pace Matrons Ministry, Coordinator for the Meals on Wheels Program for the month of August, Coordinator for meal planning for participants of Room in the Inn ad mt. ion’s representative in the Nashville Chapter of Church Women United.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Oscar Crawford, Jr.
She leaves to celebrate her memories her loving and devoted daughter, Phyllis (Thomas) Cain, grandsons, Phillip and Michael Cain, great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Evan Cain, nephews, Roderick (Beverly) Townsend, Ellis, Ronald (Karen), Larry Mathus, nieces, Wanda Draper, Daphne Elder, Valerie McFarland and many great nephews and nieces, cousins, Mattie James, Vera Lacey and Ketherine Woodley, a special friends, Yolanda Hollon, Faye Wiley-Jones, Grace Thomas, Katie Jackson and Geraldine Lee.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting that donations be made to: Greater Charlotte Hot Lunch cooperative (Meals on Wheels) 1417 Charlotte Ave. Nashville, Tn. 37203 in Memory of Lucile A. Crawford.

Visitation Sunday, December 12, 2021, 2:00 -3:00pm with funeral to follow at funeral home.

Burial Monday 9:00 am Greenwood Cemetery Main.
