Marquetta E. Edwards, a dedicated registered nurse, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at her residence in Yuma, Arizona. Born on October 6, 1981, Marquetta's passion for caring for others was evident from an early age, a calling she pursued with fervor for over 20 years in the nursing profession.
Marquetta completed her Master’s degree in Nursing, through which she not only honed her skills but also deepened her commitment to the health and well-being of her patients. She exemplified the ideals of compassion and dedication that the nursing community cherishes. Her colleagues admired her unwavering spirit and her ability to bring comfort and support to those in need.
Family played a pivotal role in Marquetta's life. She is survived by her beloved daughter, NaJoya Knott, who serves as a testament to Marquetta's nurturing spirit. Marquetta is also mourned by her parents, Evangeline (Dr. R. A.) Pointer, Marc (Shirley) Edwards, siblings: sister, Mariea Overton, and brothers Blake Edwards and Vernon Walker Jr., who will carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Moreover, Marquetta's nieces and nephews, Camiah Corey Jr., CaMariea, and Cornell Overton, knew her as a caring aunt who brightened their lives with her laughter and kindness.
Marquetta shared a beautiful partnership with her wife, Shari Reed, whom she married in 2021. Their bond was rooted in mutual respect, love, and an eagerness to support each other through life's journey.
She was cherished by her grandmother, Jewell Brown, her aunt, Sherrie Hicks, and her uncle, Edward Brown Jr., all of whom will remember her as a loving family member with a warm heart and a generous spirit.
In her spare time, Marquetta enjoyed spending time with her family, reinforcing the importance of connections and the joy they bring. Her commitment to caring for others extended not just to her profession, but also to her family, reflecting her profound capacity for love.
Marquetta E. Edwards will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of compassion, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched throughout her career.
