Marsha “Maya” Allen graduated to Glory at the age of 64 on August 28, 2022, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Marsha was born into a big family to Violet Allen and Ernest Ford in Brooklyn, New York on June 5, 1958.
Those that knew Marsha know that she loved being around family and friends and never shied away from having a good time. She had an affinity for music and laughter, and you could always find her doing one of the two when you were around her. It wasn’t uncommon to find her watching and laughing at her favorite comedians: Martin Lawrence and Kat Williams. In her spare time, Marsha enjoyed reading, listening to music, traveling, collecting, arts & crafts, and watching stand-up comedy and documentaries. However, her true happiness was when she was able to spend time with family and those she loved.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend Marsha leaves to cherish her memories her son and daughter, Shawn Allen and Sharonda Parks; sisters, Janet and Tanya; brothers, Edward, Robert, and Leonard; her grandchildren, Endia, Devante, Essence, Keaira, and DJ; great grandchildren, Damonte, Lyndon, Emani, Kay, LA, Legend, Kemari, and Donte; Nieces, Lana, Annwon, Angelika, Tashema, Tiffany, Takeema, Tasia, Denise, Samantha, and Amanda; nephews, Derrick, Von, Aswon, Leroy, Darrell, and Leshon, and a host of cousins, other family, and friends.
As we celebrate Marsha’s life on this earth, a quote by one of her favorite authors reminds us that as long as we continue to remember Marsha’s love of family, laughter, smile, & resiliency; her legacy will continue to thrive within each of us.
“Life continues after death as long as you remember the warmth of another's smile, the gentleness of their touch, the meaning they brought to your life. In your remembrance of another, death cannot overtake life.”- Iyanla Vanzant
