Mary Foster

Mary Foster, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend, gracefully departed from this world on August 1, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 73. Born on March 29, 1952, Mary lived a life filled with love, devotion, and the spirit of service that touched many around her.

Mary was educated at Cheatham County High School, a formative period that laid the groundwork for her future endeavors. With a remarkable blend of determination and intellect, she pursued a career in technology, becoming a dedicated computer technician at Saks. Her time there was marked by numerous friendships and a sense of belonging until the unfortunate closure of the plant in July 2025.

A significant part of Mary's life was her family. She was united in marriage to Charles Lee Foster in 1971, and together they built a loving home that welcomed family with open arms. She also cherished her stepdaughter, Jackie Patton Shaw, who was an integral part of her life.

Mary was born to Nellie and Samuel Talley, both of whom have preceded her in death, alongside her brother James and sister Ella. She leaves behind a vibrant legacy through her surviving sisters: Sallie Shelton, Nancy (Rickey) Boyce, and Marilyn T. Bell, and her brothers, Charlie (Mary) Talley and Dale (Mildred) Talley. A host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews will carry forth her memory, as will countless cousins who have been touched by her kindness.

From an early age, Mary found strength and community in her faith, united first with Belltown Church of Christ and later with Schrader Lane Church of Christ. These spiritual homes were nurturing places where her heart could flourish, and her love for others could thrive.

Though Mary has left this earthly realm, her spirit continues to resonate in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. Her grace, warmth, and unwavering support for her family and friends have etched an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Mary Foster will be sorely missed but forever cherished, as her life was a testament to the beauty of relationships built on love and faith.
