A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Mary Ann Davis (76) of Nashville, TN entered this world on Saturday, July 13, 1946 in Nashville, TN. She departed this life peacefully while sleeping early morning on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Mary moved to Michigan with her mother and attended high school in Inkster, MI. Most of Mary’s adult life was spent in Nashville where she married and raised her family. Mary worked for Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corp. for many years before sustaining a work-related injury forcing her to retire early. Her retirement blessed her with the opportunity to help raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren; A job she took pride in and did so well.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age. A devoted servant, she served on the Usher board for many years and eventually became a Mother of the church. Her church home was Alameda Christian Church in Nashville, TN. As Mary’s health started to decline, she wasn’t able to attend as often as she wanted; although that didn’t stop the church family and pastor from always honoring her membership.
Lovingly remembered as Mary, Ma, Maerann, granny, Mrs. Davis, Sister Davis and Mother Davis were titles her family and friends would call her. If selfless was a person that person would be Mary. Mary was bulletproof she suffered so many Illnesses and injuries and always prevailed. Mary never met a stranger and became friends with almost everyone she encountered. She loved and treated others as if they were her own family. One thing for sure is that Mary loved her family. Mary loved to cook and host her family over for dinner and holidays. Even though dinner wouldn’t start until 8pm friends and family still left with joy in their hearts and a full belly. Mary loved a good party with upbeat music, a sheet cake from Kroger and Neapolitan ice cream. She would never shy away from a good dance session. Now that she has gained her heavenly wings, Mary will forever be the life of our party.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Herman Simms and Mary Eldridge; two children: Marie Thomas and Robert Eldridge: and one great grandson Hayden Eldridge. She leaves behind to cherish loving memories to her husband William G. Davis of 55 years, her sons Michael (Tereka) and Marcus (Keianda), many grandchildren: Corey, Robert, Demarco, William, Jerreka, Monique (Arthur) Sergio (Toni), Keshia, Marsenio (Carissa), Hakeem, Shawnta, Ta’Couria (Jonah) Mederro, Derontea, Mingo, and an extra special great grand Vaden.
A very special mention to her Aunt Evelyn and Betty Jean, her cousin Joyce who was like a sister, Sarieda and Stephanie “Steffie” whom she loved like her own daughters. And a host of other relatives and friends.
