Milton McClain, Jr.

Milton McClain, Jr. was born May 13, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee to the parents, Milton McClain, Sr. and Rosa Velt Bailey McClain. This productive life came to an end on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Signature Healthcare of Erin in Erin, Tennessee.

Milton was educated in the Nashville Davidson County public schools. He was a 1943 graduate of Pearl High School and continued his education by attending Nashville Christian Institution and later graduating from Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Milton served his country in the United States Armed Forces branch of the Army. He was honorably discharged.

Milton accepted Christ in his life at an early age and was united with Fairfield Baptist Church. He was employed by L&N Railroad and retired from CSX as a Safety Supervisor.

Milton’s hobbies included golfing, bowling, dancing and he loved to sweep and clean, LOL.

After the loss of his first wife Bernice, Milton found love again and married Shirley L. Holland.

Milton was also preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Rose McClain, Sr., and brother, John McClain.

He leaves to celebrate his memories his loving and devoted wife Shirley McClain, daughters, Beth McClain Bell Daniels and Diane McClain, devoted stepdaughters, Valerie and Deborah Holland, sister, Rosa Wiseman, brother, James McClain, grandchildren, Prince (Nisa) Bell, Jr. and Patrick (Chenoa) Daniels, devoted step-grandchildren, James Lavelle Stockard, DeAndre Holland, Darius Holland, and Alexis Figgins, devoted great-grandson, “his side kick”, A’Mari McKissack, and 10 other great-grandchildren, nephew, William (Joyce) White, niece, Terri (Arthur) White, Tyson Greer, step-nieces and nephews, Lisa Southhall, Sylvia Henderson-Dennis, Melanie (Kenneth) Tucker-Young, Maurice (Crystal) Southhall, Eric Southall, George (Stacy) Tucker, Jr. and Michael Tucker, extended family, The Baileys, Jennings, Southalls, and Tuckers as well as a host of other family and friends.
