Mrs. Pauline Virginia Lyle Baugh entered into eternal rest on September 10, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on November 3, 1932. she was the beloved baby of twelve children born to the late Walter Henry and Pearear Talley Lyle. Pauline confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and began her lifelong spiritual journey at Alameda Christian Church. Over the years, she also worshipped at Schrader Lane Church before transitioning back to Alameda Christian Church alongside her husband and family, where she remained a faithful and dedicated member.
A graduate of Burton High School, Pauline dedicated her career to caring for others. She worked as a nurse’s aide on the OB/GYN unit at Saint Thomas Hospital alongside her sister, Katie. Together, they proudly served as two of the very first Black women to work on that floor—a groundbreaking milestone she cherished and spoke of with immense pride. Later, she retired from hospital service to devote her heart entirely to her true life’s passion: caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren as a full-time homemaker.
On September 29, 1951, Pauline was united in holy matrimony to her beloved husband, Ernest Baugh Sr. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, devotion, and steadfast love, sharing over 70 blessed years of marriage. Through life’s ups and downs, they stood side-by-side, cooked together, supported one another, and remained unapologetically true to who they were.
Pauline was a woman of clear convictions—caring, loving, and fun, yet firm, straightforward, and quick to speak her mind. She loved to cook, sew, knit, and tend to her garden. Most of all, she treasured her role as a mother and grandmother, making it a priority to be present for their activities, milestones, and daily lives.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ernest Baugh Sr.; her son, Anthony Baugh; her parents, Walter Henry and Perear Talley Lyle; and her eleven siblings: Katie Crutfield, Esa Dell Lyle, Owen Lyle, Russell Lyle, Clarence Lyle, Charles Lyle, Liberia Lyle, Fellon Lyle, Herbert Lyle, and Lillie - Mae Lyle.
HER BEAUTIFUL LEGACY OF LOVE LIVES ON THROUGH HER DEVOTED CHILDREN: DAUGHTERS BARBARA BAUGH HARDY, NATALIE BAUGH, AND TERESA (CLARENCE) PENDERGRAST, AND SON ERNEST (STEPHANIE) BAUGH JR.
SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY 9 GRANDCHILDREN: KIMBERLY HARDY, TABITHA (PATRICK) CARNEY, ANGELA (ALONZO) HYDE, NICOLE (CHARRON SR.)
