Peggy Sweeney-Bowers

Peggy B. Sweeney Bowers made a peaceful transition from life to eternal rest April 29, 2023. She was born February 18, 1940 to the late James Sr. and Carrie Sweeney in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee.

Peggy was married to Albert Bowers Jr. to this union one child was born Sherry Lynn.

Nell as she was affectionately referred to graduated from Haynes High School and she attended Tennessee State University. She was employed with Blue Bell Boots and Kmart as a customer service clerk. She was very athletic loving basketball and track. Rumor has it “she beat Wilma Rudolph in a track competition event.” Nell loved gospel music and watching First 48. She talked twice daily to her sister, Lettie Jean. She served on FBSI Kitchen Team, Senior Choir, Mass Choir. She also performed with The Estralita Trio and The Choraleers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, grandparents, 1 brother, and 4 sisters.

Her days of foil and labor here on earth are finished. She has gone home to be with the Lord. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory a loving daughter, Sherry Lynn Brown, devoted son-in-law, John Brown, sister, Lettie Jean Walker, sister-in-law, Debbie (Tommy) Polk, brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Linda) Bowers, Steve Bowers, numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Devoted friends, Robbie and Pashay Polk, Cheryl and Bryan Bonnell.
