Reverend Robert Lee “Bob” Coleman was born on February 22, 1926, in Davidson County in Nashville, Tennessee. He departed this life on April 2, 2023. He was educated in Nashville schools, and he is a graduate from Nashville Christian Institute and attended Emmanuel Bible College. He was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for 65 years. He served on the Deacon Board for 32 years and was a member of Choir# 2. He was a former Pastor of the Lily Hill Missionary Church (January 26, 1992 – August 1997). He was a true servant of God, and he loved the Lord!
Reverend Coleman enjoyed playing cards at the Elizabeth Park Community Center. His favorite TV shows were Westerns and Gospel programs. He was an advent TSU football fan and enjoyed getting his monthly pedicures. He was a very proud Father to be a part of his daughters Deaconess Ordination.
Reverend Coleman served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II. Upon relief of active duty held Rank of Corporal. He retired from the Metro Board of Education Operations Department after twenty-five years of service. After retirement he worked at Terrell Broady Funeral home for 12 years. He was a Past Master of Prince Hall Lodge #1.
Reverend Coleman was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Coleman; son: Robert Coleman, Jr.; sister: Bessie King.
Reverend Coleman leaves to cherish precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Lisa (Gary) Taylor; loving granddaughter: Alisha Breckenridge; devoted niece-in-law: Kim (Al) Hall and sister-in-law: Polly Fitzpatrick; devoted God daughter: Francia (Robert) Anderson; devoted friends: Elizabeth Brown, Gloria Berry, Martha Fleming, Deacons and Deaconess James Curry, Paul Evans and Willia Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Special thanks to the friends of the Elizabeth Park Community Center. Special thanks to Mary Jane Nelson for her assistance in care.
