Richard Conklin Jones Jr. was born on November 12, 1947, in Somerville, Tennessee, to the late Richard and Inez Jones. He was the eldest of seven siblings and carried that responsibility with quiet strength, becoming a natural leader, steady presence, and example of dignity for his family.
RC accepted Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Sylvan Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years. He was a dedicated member of the Board of Trustees, the Men’s Ministry, and the Church Choir, using both his voice and his presence to uplift the ministry and his community.
He was educated in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system and attended the historic Pearl High School. After over 35 years of hard work and commitment, RC retired from Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., where he was a respected and valued employee.
Outside of work and church, Richard enjoyed the simple joys of life—family gatherings, competitive games in his local bowling league, and always maintaining a sharp appearance. A quiet man by nature, his wisdom, strength, and impeccable style spoke louder than words ever could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Inez Jones, and his brother, Ronald Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Ethel Jones; his children, Tonya Jones, Tameka Mayo, Richard (Amy) Jones, Lashawn Jones, Sheronica (Harold) Lewis, and Gary (Roshawna) Tucker; siblings, Robert Floyd Jones (Frances), Beverly Collier (David), Barnett Crutcher (Ron), Gerald Wayne Jones (Diane), and Matrice Johnson (Carmen); sister-in-law, Holly Jones, 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Though he has departed this earthly life, the legacy of Richard Conklin Jones Jr.—his strength, his style, his faith, and his love—will forever live on in all who knew and loved him.
