Rickie Ann Reese

Rickie Ann Reese was born February 8,1959, to Annie Mae Reese Payne and Richard Woods. She departed this earthly life on October 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Reese Payne and stepfather John W. Payne; sister, Gloria Foster; Brothers, Michael Reese and Clarence Goins.


Rickie gave her life to Christ at a young age and later became a member of Glenn’s Tabernacle U.P.B Church and served under the leadership of the late Elder Carlton Glenn, Sr. and sung in the choir. She moved her membership to McNairy Hill U.P.B Church and served eleven years under Pastor John T. Gassaway and organized the Pastoral Ensemble Group Choir. Rickie decided to move her membership one last time to Grace United M.B Church where she served under the pastorship of Pastor Kerry D. James, Sr., she sung in the choir and was a dedicated worker. She also worked as a stage decorator with Grace Entertainment and loved working with Pastor James on his stage play productions.
Rickie Ann graduated from McGavock High School, Class of 1975. She attended college at Tennessee State University and was an original founder member of The Nondenominational Gospel Choir under the direction of Billy Summers in 1984-1985; the choir recorded an eight song cd, entitled “Let Everything That Have Breath Praise The Lord”. Rickie founded and organized the local community sorority Zeta Phi Omega in 1983 and the chapter disbanded in 1986.
Before her life changing car accident, she worked as a caseworker at Nashville Urban League and was a licensed beautician. She loved to model and enjoyed singing in multiple choirs like Fellowship Community Choir and BM&E.
She leaves to cherish her daughter, ReShawna LaNae Reese; devoted goddaughters, Chaquinta Washington, Narkeetha Wilson and Nikki Glenn; godson, Andreaco Wilson; god-grandchildren, Jahmall Robinson, Asiah Douglas, Nikieya Douglas, Ra’Miya Osborne, Zhaniyah Washington, Elijah Blacksmith Jr. and Zari Horton; sisters, Marquita Fletcher, Janet Frierson, Darlene Reese, Amanda Crowley and Bridgette Glenn; brothers, Jerry Reese Sr., Daryl Reese, James Smith Jr, and Lavelle Smith; devoted friends, Sylvia Hampton Cleaves, Charlene Robinson, Drexia Flowers, Cheryl Hicks-Eppenger, Patricia Neal, Elizabeth Booker, Marjorie Abernathy, Karen Dunlap and Fantina Bumpas-Carter; also a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Viewing Saturday, October 16, 2021, 12-5 at funeral home. visitation Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. with funeral to follow at 4:00 P.M. at Mount Gilead M. B. Church, 4004 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076. Burial in Greenwood North on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.
