His twelve years at Meigs School were marked by academic excellence, graduating with honors, and active participation in the glee club, honor society, and basketball. Grayling was a member of the East Nasty running club and received numerous medals for marathons. His dedication extended beyond academics; he was a devoted member of Braden United Methodist Church. He furthered his education with two years at Tennessee State University (TSU) and went on to become a certified nurse technician, a testament to his commitment to service and care.
Grayling’s passions were infectious. He was a fiercely loyal fan of Michael Jackson, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Boston Celtics, but his love for God and his family surpassed all else. For the past decade, he found comfort and companionship in the loving home of his sister Deborah and her family in Donelson.Grayling leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
He is survived by his two devoted sisters, Deborah Harris and Mitzi Harris Allen; his five nephews, Kayden Ekhator, Kameron Lewis, Ian Allen, Kevin Collins, and Keith (Alisha) Ekhator; and his three nieces, Kanesa Harris, Kayla Harris, and Zuri Ekhator. He will also be deeply missed by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Phillips, and his cousin, Troy Douglas and Ron Paisley. Riley was preceded in death by his Parents: Mary Elizabeth Corder Harris and Douglas Harris. Brothers: James Phillips and Douglas Harris Jr., and Beloved Aunt, Helen Douglas. He leaves to cherish his memory other nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
