Roger W. Evans, Sr.

February 3, 1945 — March 3, 2026

The life of Roger W. Evans Sr. known to his family as “Wesley,” was born on February 3, 1945, in Nashville, TN to the late Mary and Roosevelt Evans.

In his early years he joined Tabernacle Baptist Church under the pastorate of his father, the late Rev Roosevelt Evans. He was active in the church, and he sang in the choir.

On January 23, 1965, he married his forever love of his life, Gloria A. Bolerjack. They became proud parents of two children, a daughter, and a son. He was a devoted husband for 61 years until the evening GOD said son your work is done here.

Roger went to Cameron High School. He started out as boy throwing papers throughout the neighborhood. He worked for Sunbeam Bread Company and later performed janitorial services at McGavock High School. Then he matriculated into working for himself as a carpenter years ago, which today translates to construction/contractor. He repaired, replaced, remodeled and later in life he built homes.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Evans, father Rev. Rosevelt Evans Sr.; Brothers – Rosevelt Evans, Jr, Wallace Evans; Sisters – Charlesetta Mills, Helen Currie, Mary Jean Hancock, Lucille Dean and Ruth Carlew.

He leaves to carry on his legacy and cherish his memory – his loving wife of 61years Gloria Evans, a son Roger Evans Jr., a daughter Donzaleigh (Charles) Brooks; brother Paul (Willia) Evans, Rufus (Yvonne) Evans; His 7 grand-children – Phillip Phifer, Ieshia Evans, Mya Jones, Isiah Upton, Kaia Upton, Kaleigh Upton, Charles (Shalynn Brooks) ; 7 great-grandchildren several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roger Evans, husband, father, and friend too many will be missed beyond measure, he will live on from his kind words, words of reason and encouragement, deep conversations not to mention his silly/competitive side when he used to bowl. He was called thunder and mom was called lighting. At least that is what they said when we would go for family bowling – LOL! But he will not be forgotten.
