Ronald Eugene Granberry was born on April 2, 1955 Nashville, Tennessee to the parents of Fayetta Granberry and to the late William Beard. He departed this life on Sunday May 10, 2026, at Saint Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee. He was the eldest of eight children to Fayetta Granberry. He was preceded in death by Father William Beard and sister Connie Carter
He was married to Sheila Dowdy Granberry in 1978 for 48 years and 51 years together.
Ronald was educated in the Metro Nashville Public School System of Tennessee. He graduated from Overton High School in Nashville. He attended Tennessee Career College where he received his Paralegal degree. He began his career working for Better Business Equipment (BBE) for years until his retirement. After retirement he worked for TMT and later for Medic Transportation where he received a certificate of recognition for his dedication, love, and service for his job and others.
Ronald accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful and dedicated to his walk with Christ. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, where he became an Ordained Deacon under the leadership of the late Rev. Foster G. Young. He later joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he continued his deacon duties. He was the President of the Men’s Ministry, Assistant in New Members Ministry, and Deacon Advisor of the Seasons Saints Ministry. In his spare time, he volunteered his services at the Star Ministry Food Bank, and visited the sick and shut-in.
He enjoyed spending time with his family -especially having family gatherings, traveling, playing music, watching sports such as WNBA, NBA, and certainly the Dallas Cowboys. Most importantly he loved praying, reading, and studying the Word of God.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Mom Fayetta Granberry, Wife Sheila Dowdy Granberry. Children: Lanita (Kenneth) Poole, Demetrius (Jamentria) Granberry, LaQuita Granberry, Demetra (Mickle) Blackman, and Ronsheika Granberry. Siblings: Donnie Granberry, Dwight Granberry, Yvette Granberry, Annette Granberry, Tonya Granberry, Rhonda (Joe) Gordon, Chnne (Marcus) Dotson, Miejytt Beard, and Mie Na Beard. Brother in-law Melvin (Raynell) Dowdy of Spring TX. Sister-in-law, Bettina Dowdy of Nashville, TN.,10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. Uncles: Edward Granberry of Cleveland, OH; William (Christina) Granberry of Chicago, IL; and Warddell Hardiman of Nashville TN. Nieces, nephews, a host of family, godchildren, and friends.
