Sadie Young Minor

Jul 30, 1961 — Jun 23, 2026

In loving memory, we honor the life of our dearly departed who has left an incredible mark on our lives. Though we grieve this impactful loss, we take comfort in the memories we shared and the love bestowed upon us.

Sadie Young Minor, age 64, transitioned peacefully Tuesday June 23, 2026 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born July 30, 1961 in Memphis, TN to the late James Young Sr. and Everteen Young.

Sadie was the youngest of five children, with one preceded in death, James Young Jr. (Lerline Young). She is survived by her sisters Carol Martin (James Martin), Grelia Morris(the late Willie Morris), and Nanella Dukes. Sadie had the utmost respect and love for her siblings and shared that same gratitude for their spouses.

Sadie was a true believer in God. She professed her life to Christ at a young age at St. Paul Baptist Church of Memphis, TN. Sadie was educated in the Shelby County school system where she graduated from Overton High School in 1979.

Sadie dedicated 23 years of her life as a committed Bank Teller where she later advanced to Consumer Banking in Memphis to Nashville, TN. She was a staple in her career and provided so much warmth and joy to her fellow coworkers over those years.

From that move, Sadie was to marry the love of her life, Marcus C. Minor. Sadie and Marcus affectionately known as Buddy, were married for 38 beautiful years. Sadie loved her some Buddy and would often reintroduce herself as “Sadie, Buddy Minor’s WIFE!” Sadie basked

in the love Buddy provided for her on a daily and truly loved him and the life they created for themselves. From that union, they gave birth to a beautiful Babygirl.

Sadie was a lover of life and her hobbies included: Skating, spending time with family, serving her community with any task or job that was asked of her, and watching her favorite reality TV shows.

Sadie leaves to cherish her most valuable memories: a very devoted and loving daughter Mariah C. Minor. Sadie enjoyed a lot of things in life, but becoming and being Mariah’s mom was her favorite thing to do. For 35 years, she dedicated so much of her time pouring life lessons, guidance, and nevertheless pure genuine love into Mariah. Outside of being a mom, Sadie truly cherished her role as “MiMi.” Granddaughters, Addison L.Moore and her namesake SadieLynn Perkins. Most of her days were spent loving and caring for her grand girls and not missing one moment of their lives. She truly loved watching them grow and they loved every ounce of time spent with Sadie as well.

There has been no lack of help over the past years as Sadie’s health declined. From every doctor’s visit to every hospital stay, Sadie’s village always showed up and never hesitated to care for her. Friends: The Fields Family, The Carter Family, The Tiller Family, and The Beard Family. Sadie’s care team at Vanderbilt Medical Center and the Pulmonary care team provided so much care and education to Sadie over the years.

In close, life will send extended family and friends and Sadie was no stranger to welcoming others as her own. Special family members: The Young Family and The Minor Family; A host of nieces and nephews ; Special daughters: Brittany N. Montanez, De’Shawnda C.Moore, Jackie M. Campbell, and Markisha E. Peoples.
