The world grew a little dimmer on June 5, 2025, when Minister Sherry Brent traded this life for eternal peace, passing away suddenly but peacefully at home in Nashville, Tennessee. While her time here felt heartbreakingly short, her impact was amazing.
Born on October 27, 1957, in Springfield, TN, to the late parentage Ally Mae Campbell and Joe Nathan Jones. Sherry was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, and friend. At the heart of Sherry’s life was her love for God and her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, surrounding them with unconditional love. She was a force of nature wrapped in love, laughter, and just the right amount of sass. She lived loud, laughed ever louder, and never once apologized for being exactly who she was. Sherry received her education in the Metro Davidson County Public School System. She was a caregiver and housekeeper for many years. Her hobbies were shopping, cooking, and decorating.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Allie Campbell; father, Joe Jones; daughter, Sherita Browder; brothers, Larry Jones and Curtis Smith; sisters, Nyokie Cole, and Beserine Hambrick.
Faith was her compass. Sherry accepted Christ at an early age. Sherry was a devoted member at Cowan Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor JH. Johnson, and later under the late Pastor Louis C. Taylor, until her health failed. She was called into the ministry and was ordained by Bishop Timothy Leslie on July 23, 2004. Sherry always spoke on how good God had been to her, no matter what life threw her way. What we’ll miss the most is her huge heart, infectious energy, and her unwavering support. As we say our final goodbyes to Sherry, remember the joy she brought into our lives and the love she shared with everyone she met. Her laughter will echo in our hearts, and her love will continue to inspire us.
Celebrating her life forever, though sincerely missing her. Husband, Raymond Brent; daughters Lavenia Browder, and Lotoria Brent; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister Bobbie Joe Jones; Five stepsiblings, devoted friends Joyce Patton, and Minister Sharon Davis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
