Shirley Ross Maxwell

Shirley Ross Maxwell was born April 19, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee to the union of James and Edna Louise Elliott.  Shirley departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Trevecca Health and Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee

Shirley received her education in the Metro Nashville Public Schools. In 1972 she married her loving husband Surrie Maxwell and relocated to Louisville, Kentucky for several years before making her way back to Nashville. 

Shirley was employed by Marriott Hotels in the housekeeping department, she was also employed by Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in the daycare department.

Shirley accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board.  Shirley loved her family, shopping, going to the community center, reading, doing words searches, and searching the web on the computer.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edna Louise Elliott, and her siblings, Pearl Bennett, Dorothy Wilson, James Elliott, Annette Taylor, Betty Elliot, and Brenda Elliott.

She leaves to cherish her memories; three sons, Ricky, Gary, and Ronald Elliott; devoted nieces, Ebony Cammon, Shirley Wiley, Deborah Elliott; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
