Tammy Tate

Tammy was born on November 4, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee to parents, Loretta Witherspoon and Clarence Tate. She was educated in the Memphis Shelby County Public Schools. She had a strong faith in Christ and was a practicing, Christian.

Tammy was a great mother, sister, and friend. She treated strangers like family. She was a devoted woman of God. She believed and lived taking the Gospel to the highways and byways. She was known for her frequent visits to homeless shelters and women shelters with her group Sister 2 Sister. She was also a member of many prayer groups and ministry teams. Her willingness to testify of God’s goodness and mercy was on display in any situation; even in sickness.

Tammy was preceded in death by both parents, Clarence Tate and Loretta Witherspoon.

Those left to celebrate her life are her 3 children, Mark Tate, Chloe Covington, and Caleb Covington, 6 brothers and sisters, Lee Witherspoon, Genella Witherspoon-Ward, Azell Witherspoon, Sonja Witherspoon, Heather Tate, and Frank Gibson.

Tammy’s faith, love, and personality will truly be missed. 

One of her last statements was “Celebrate my life, don’t mourn my death.”
