Thomas Ray Daly, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025. Born on January 22, 1949, in Pulaski, TN, he was the son of Margaret Daly Swanson and Will Porter Martin.
Thomas spent his early years in Tennessee before attending Metro Nashville Public Schools. He later moved to Florida, where he graduated from Gibbs Senior High School in 1967. A standout athlete, he played a pivotal role in leading the Gibbs basketball team to a state championship, finishing the season as the state’s leading rebounder with an impressive average of 19 rebounds per game.
Following high school, Thomas attended Kentucky State College before answering the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he married Letitia Lynn Jones in 1972. He dedicated 32 years of service to the Ford Auto Glass Plant before retiring.
Thomas was baptized into Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted member of Northside Church of Christ.
Beyond his career and accomplishments, Thomas will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Letitia Jones Daly; his sons, Dr. Trevin (Elizabeth) Daly, Sr., Torian (She’a) Daly, Sr., and Tequan Daly; and his adored grandchildren, Torian Daly, Jr. and Sa’Nyah Daly. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Swanson, Jr., and Stephen Swanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Daly Swanson and Will Porter Martin; his brother, John Kenneth Swanson; and his beloved grandson, Trevin Daly, Jr.
