Mrs. Virginia Louise Newsom Gordon was born February 14, 1956 in Kingston Springs, Tennessee to the late Silas Phillips and Rosie B. Newsom. Virginia departed her earthly life early Wednesday Morning March 18, 2026 at Eaton Creek Post Acute in Nashville, Tennessee.
On May 8, 1972 Virginia was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Raymond S. Gordon for 44 years before he departed his earthly life on November 16, 2016. They together loved to entertain family and friends all the time. Virginia’s favorite words were “I’m the Queen and I’m the oldest!” Her favorite song that she loved to sing was “A change gonna come” by Sam Cooke.

Special Thanks to Mary Talley and Selvester Kelly she was never lonely they set with and kept her company we truly appreciate you. A special thanks to my co-workers at Eagle ME. Special thanks to our cousin James (Wander) Kelly, my sister Catherine told me before her passing if you ever need anything call James he has the answers, now I know what she meant. When I call him and talk to him it’s a relief.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Thomas Hospital. They worked long and hard to save her for 15 days. The showed us light and never gave up.
A special thanks to her Case Worker Gary Gallon. He worked hard with me to get her into a nursing home. A friend of the family said try Eaton Creek Nursing, and all our blessings and prayers were answered. After 1 – week she showed improvement and . I told the staff this place is a fountain of youth. Virginia has found her crown again, all I could hear “I’m the queen and the oldest” for 20 days and nights it was beautiful. We appreciate you.
A special thanks to the staff of the Ark Pegram who made sure she had hot meals and heat and anything she needed her favorite call Mr. Mike. A lady named Mrs. ????? We appreciate you.
