Walter Lee Jackson Jr., affectionately known as “Big Walt,” was born on August 26, 1960, to the late Fred and the late Aurvernia. He passed away on April 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Walter was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and spent part of his childhood in Chicago, Illinois, before returning to Memphis where he graduated from Melrose High School. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the military, where he proudly served his term. Following his time in the military, Walter became a self-employed entrepreneur.
He was widely known and loved in the community as the “Popsicle Man,” owning and operating several popsicle trucks that brought joy and smiles to countless children and families.
Walter had a vibrant personality and truly enjoyed life. He loved visiting casinos, dancing, listening to music, and relaxing while watching his favorite western shows on television. He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan who proudly supported his team. His presence lit up any room, and his sense of humor and charm will be deeply missed by all who knew him.In 1999, Walter was united in holy matrimony to Stephanie Jackson in Nashville, Tennessee. Their marriage was a testament to love and commitment, and they remained devoted to one another until his passing.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith and Anthony Mack, and his sisters, Anne and Faye.Walter leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Stephanie Jackson; his son, Walter Johnson (Destiny Johnson); his daughters, Vanessa, Shay, and Keisha; his sister, Jolinda; his niece, Audrey; his favorite cousin, Pat; and eight beloved grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends.Walter “Big Walt” Jackson Jr. will be remembered for his big heart, his joyful spirit, and the lasting impact he made on everyone he encountered.
