Walter Leon Johnson Jr. was born in Nashville, Tennessee on January 13, 1987, to Joyce A. Smith and the late Walter Leon Johnson Sr. On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Walter was called to enter his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Walter Leon Johnson Sr.; grandparents Lazelle Sr. and Mary Smith, Lonnie Sr. and Gloria Johnson; aunts Elaine and Fannie Watkins, Deborah Smith; uncle, Jerry Johnson; brother Charles Smith; cousins Londrais and Lorenzo Johnson; and his best friend, Lil Benny Murray.
Walter received his education through the Metro Nashville Public School System. He was an entrepreneur with a passion for buying and customizing cars. An avid rapper in his free time, Walter also loved cooking and cherished moments spent with his children, family, and friends. He took pride in supporting his loved ones whenever they were in need, offering a listening ear and striving to be a problem solver for those around him.
Walter’s devotion to his mother, sister, niece, and children was unwavering—he would do anything in the world for them. He was a devoted son, an amazing father, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. Walter was truly a character, and his infectious, unforgettable laugh will be missed most by everyone who knew him.
Walter’s loving legacy lives on through his children: Teviyonna, Waltaveus, Delontaye (Darnicka), Waltarion, (Danecia) Legend, (Kyondra), Serenity, (Shateryka), his devoted mother Joyce Smith; (Jon Caruthers), devoted sisters Latasha (Lorenzo) Brown, Natasha Smith; sister-in-law, Cierra Smith; nieces Miosha Smith and Texonna; nephews Javon, Samuel, Elijah La Jonathan, Jamarcus, Jocquis, Wyatt, and Edgar; great nephews Jayden, Kymir, and Josiah; great niece Kayla; uncle Luzelle Jr. (Gladys) Smith; devoted uncles, Lonnie; Myron and Timothy Johnson; aunts Addie, Teresa, Esta, Rosa, Martha and Georgia Johnson, devoted aunt, Audrey ((Eric) Mapson, and a host of other family members and friends.
Walter’s presence, warmth, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. He is definitely and truly missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
